Running Report 28th Feb & 1st March

We did some great running this week - the Beginners are doing really well (thanks to some extra help from Sarah F), Lisa & Fiona did their first 5K run with the group and it was great to welcome back Angela. I only managed to run on Tuesday - my back is pretty much better now though.

On our virtual global challenge, we' re now in Stuttgart, making some real progress down Germany with 160km run this week. Do have a look at our map - it's looking so impressive now!

For those of you doing the Eastleigh 10K, I have 2 extra runs coming up. 9am tomorrow (Saturday) from Fleming Park is aimed at first timers who are working up to the distance & will be very gentle with walk breaks. Thursday at 7pm from Fleming Park is for those who've nailed the distance & want to run the route.

Downloads for the sessions from my GPS:
Mon 7pm 7.5km in 48:04mins, 599 cals
Mon 8pm 5.1km in 40:41mins, 336 cals
Tue 7pm 6.0km in 46:42mins, 404 cals
Tue 8pm 3.7km in 34:12mins, 222 cals

Beginners Programme - Week 3
We'll be focusing on posture and technique on Tuesday - but here's the running plan:

· Warm up

· Run 2 mins, walk 1 min for first 13 mins

· Run 3 mins, walk 1 min for next 22 mins

· Cool down

· Stretching

Holiday Disruption

I’m off on holiday in Feb & I’m afraid that it does mean disrupting runs. However, I am scheduling in a 10K on Saturday 5th on the Eastleigh 10K route

Monday 31st Jan – no disruption, normal runs, normal times, the Hub

Tuesday 1st Feb – no disruption, normal runs, normal times, the Hub

Saturday 5th Feb – Eastleigh 10K route at 9am, starting from Fleming Park lobby. There is an option to stop at 6km if necessary.

Monday 7th Feb - There will be just 1 session at 7pm starting from the Hub. This will be for both Advanced & Improvers.

· Tuesday 8th Feb - No sessions.

Monday 14th Feb - No sessions

· Tuesday 15th Feb – Normal as my flight gets into Gatwick at 3:15pm (outside chance of cancelling if I’m delayed badly – I will attempt to put something on this website by 6:30pm if that’s the case, but I think we are safe!).

o 7pm Improvers (Advanced welcome)

o 8pm Fast Track Beginners – running 30 minutes

Monday 21st Feb – back to normal. No disruption, normal runs, normal times, the Hub. Fast Track Beginners are welcome to join the 8pm Improvers group where they will be able to run within their ability!

· Tuesday 22nd Feb – back to normal. No disruption, normal runs, normal times, the Hub. Fast Track Beginners are welcome to join the 7pm Improvers group where they will be able to run within their ability! Absolute Beginners will start at 8pm.

Runs this week

Monday 7pm 6.0km, 37:11 mins
Tuesday 8pm 6.7km, no time recorded
Monday 8pm 4.45km, 38:01mins, 283 calories.

My GPS is behaving again so should be back to normal levels of data reporting next week.

There's an extra session next week on Thursday 25th at 7pm, starting from Fleming Park lobby (NOT the Hub!). We will cover the Eastleigh 10K route - good prep for anyone planning to take part in this event this year.

And on Monday 1st March, the 7pm Advanced group will be starting at 6:30pm (from the Hub) so we can do 10K - if you are a Standard group runnner, feel free to join as we will loop back.

Beginners for Tuesday:
4 walk breaks in a 34 minute session this week - that means no more total time running than last week. Walk breaks are at 6mins, 13mins, 20mins and 27mins.

Beginners Programme - the second!

The new beginners programme will start on Monday 29th June at 8pm - so if you know anyone who's been inspired by your running achievements this year, please do mention this to them! It will be another 10 week programme.

Until June, I'll be running 2 groups - standard group at 6:30pm on Mondays and Intermediate group at 7:35pm. From 29th June, these 2 become 1 (wasn't that a Spice Girls song??) at 7pm.

And finally - pic is of X & me at the Eastleigh 10K, looking a little post run!

Eastleigh 10K - Extra Training Session

I'm running a few extra training sessions aimed at the Eastleigh 10K at the end of March.
First is this Wednesday (25th). Meet at Fleming Park Leisure Centre in the lobby at 6:30pm.
The plan is to cover the full route - but you can take walking breaks if required!

Address:
Fleming Park Leisure Centre, Passfield Avenue,Eastleigh,Hampshire,SO50 9NL

I've had it OK-ed by the Centre that we can change there, use lockers & loos if required. Just walk straight to the changing rooms. Just ensure that you are in the lobby for 6:30pm ready to run!
